Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DP Tutors (“DP Tutors”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use dptutors.com, browse tutor profiles, or apply to be listed as a tutor.
1. What DP Tutors is
DP Tutors is an independent directory that helps students and families discover tutors who offer support for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. DP Tutors does not currently provide tutoring lessons itself, process lesson payments, or create student accounts.
2. Information we collect
When you browse the website
Our web host and WordPress installation may automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, timestamps, and basic server logs. This information is used for security, reliability, troubleshooting, and preventing abuse.
When you apply to become a tutor
The tutor application form may collect:
- your name and email address;
- country, timezone, and languages;
- IB subjects and levels taught;
- tutor background and relevant IB experience;
- support offered, such as IA, EE, TOK, or exam preparation;
- hourly rate;
- qualifications and professional information;
- profile biography;
- website, LinkedIn, or booking/contact links; and
- a profile photograph.
We also record the date of your application and your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and the Terms. For anti-spam and rate-limiting purposes, your IP address may be used temporarily in hashed form to prevent repeated submissions.
Information you send us directly
If you email DP Tutors or otherwise contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, including your email address and the contents of your message.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- review tutor applications;
- contact applicants about their application or profile;
- create, maintain, and update approved tutor profiles;
- operate, secure, and improve the website;
- prevent spam, fraud, and misuse;
- respond to questions, correction requests, complaints, or legal requests; and
- comply with applicable law.
We do not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
4. Information that becomes public
If a tutor application is approved, information intended for the tutor profile may be published publicly on dptutors.com. Depending on the profile, this may include the tutor’s name, photograph, biography, subjects, levels, country, timezone, languages, tutor background, hourly rate, qualifications, availability, and external contact or booking link.
Applicants should submit only information they are comfortable having published. Private application information such as the applicant’s email address is not displayed publicly unless it is deliberately included in a public link or profile field.
5. How we share information
We may share information only as reasonably necessary to operate the service, including with website hosting, email, security, and technical service providers that process information on our behalf. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a legitimate transfer of the website or business.
Approved tutor profile information is public and may be viewed by anyone on the internet.
6. Fonts and third-party services
The website currently uses Google Fonts to load Inter and Plus Jakarta Sans. When those font files are requested, the visitor’s browser connects to Google’s servers and may transmit technical information such as an IP address and browser details. External links on tutor profiles may take you to third-party websites; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
7. Cookies and tracking
DP Tutors does not currently use advertising cookies or behavioural advertising trackers. WordPress, the web host, or essential security features may use technically necessary cookies or similar storage, especially for administrators who are logged in. If analytics, advertising, or other non-essential tracking is introduced later, this notice and any required consent controls will be updated.
8. How long we keep information
We keep tutor applications, correspondence, and related records only for as long as reasonably necessary for review, profile administration, security, dispute handling, and legal obligations. Published tutor information may remain online while the profile is active. Tutors may ask for their profile to be corrected or removed.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction on the use of your personal information, and in some cases to object to processing or request a portable copy. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To make a privacy request, contact info@dptutors.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Children and students under 18
DP Tutors is intended to help families and students find tutors, and some students may be under 18. The website does not currently ask students to create accounts or submit public reviews. Students under 18 should involve a parent or guardian when contacting or arranging lessons with a tutor and should not send unnecessary personal or sensitive information through the website.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to a small directory website, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, government identification documents, or other highly sensitive information unless DP Tutors specifically requests it through an appropriate process.
12. International access
DP Tutors can be accessed internationally. Website hosting and service providers may process information in countries different from the country where you live. Where required, we will take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as DP Tutors develops. The “Last updated” date above will be changed when material revisions are made. Significant changes may also be highlighted on the website where appropriate.
14. Contact
For privacy questions, correction or deletion requests, or concerns about personal information, contact info@dptutors.com.
