Terms
These Terms govern your use of dptutors.com and the DP Tutors directory. By using the website, submitting a tutor application, or asking DP Tutors to publish a tutor profile, you agree to these Terms.
1. About DP Tutors
DP Tutors is an independent directory designed to help students and families discover tutors who offer support for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (“IB DP”). DP Tutors is not currently a tutoring agency, school, employer, payment processor, or party to tutoring agreements made between users and tutors.
DP Tutors is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by the International Baccalaureate Organization. “IB”, “International Baccalaureate”, and related marks belong to their respective owners.
2. Tutor listings and verification
Tutors are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of the information they submit. DP Tutors may review applications before publication and may request clarification or supporting evidence, but publication of a profile is not a guarantee of a tutor’s suitability, availability, qualifications, identity, teaching quality, safeguarding status, or results.
If DP Tutors displays a specific verification statement or badge, it means only that the particular item stated was checked to the extent described. Verification cannot be purchased and should not be understood as a general endorsement or guarantee.
DP Tutors may refuse, edit, suspend, or remove a listing where reasonably necessary, including for inaccurate information, inactivity, complaints, safety concerns, academic-integrity concerns, misuse of the site, or breach of these Terms.
3. Contacting and hiring tutors
Students and families contact tutors directly using the information or links provided on tutor profiles. Unless DP Tutors expressly introduces a separate booking service in the future, lesson scheduling, fees, payment methods, cancellations, refunds, lesson delivery, safeguarding arrangements, and any other tutoring terms are agreed directly between the tutor and the student or family.
Users are responsible for deciding whether a tutor is appropriate for their needs and for carrying out any additional checks they consider necessary before sharing personal information, making a payment, or beginning lessons.
4. Users under 18
Many IB DP students are under 18. A student under 18 should use DP Tutors with the involvement of a parent or guardian when contacting a tutor, arranging lessons, making payments, or sharing personal information. Tutors are responsible for following applicable safeguarding, child-protection, professional, and legal requirements in the places where they operate.
5. Academic integrity
DP Tutors exists to support genuine learning. Tutors and users must not use the service to arrange cheating, impersonation, plagiarism, contract cheating, unauthorised completion of assessed work, or other conduct that violates school or IB academic-integrity rules.
Tutors may explain concepts, teach skills, discuss assessment criteria, provide feedback, and help students practise, but assessed work must remain the student’s own work. DP Tutors may remove listings or restrict access where there is a credible academic-integrity concern.
6. Tutor responsibilities
By applying for or maintaining a listing, a tutor confirms that:
- the information supplied is truthful and not misleading;
- they have the right to use the photograph, biography, qualifications, links, and other material they submit;
- they will keep material profile information reasonably current;
- they will communicate professionally and lawfully with students and families;
- they are responsible for their own pricing, taxes, insurance, contracts, safeguarding obligations, and regulatory requirements; and
- they will not imply that DP Tutors, a school, or the International Baccalaureate Organization endorses them unless that endorsement is expressly given in writing.
7. Licence to display tutor content
A tutor retains ownership of content they submit. By submitting material for a listing, the tutor gives DP Tutors a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, resize, format, and display that material as reasonably necessary to operate and promote the DP Tutors directory and the tutor’s listing. This licence ends when the material is no longer reasonably needed for those purposes, subject to backups, legal records, and material already lawfully published or shared.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the website unlawfully or to harm, harass, deceive, or exploit another person;
- impersonate another person or submit false credentials;
- scrape, harvest, copy, or systematically extract tutor data for spam, resale, competing databases, or unsolicited marketing;
- attempt to bypass security, interfere with the website, introduce malware, or overload the service;
- use automated systems to send mass enquiries or abusive traffic; or
- copy substantial parts of the DP Tutors design, database, text, or other protected content except as permitted by law.
9. External websites and services
Tutor profiles may link to independent websites, booking pages, video-call platforms, payment providers, or social networks. DP Tutors does not control those services and is not responsible for their availability, content, privacy practices, fees, or actions. Use of third-party services is at your own discretion and subject to their terms.
10. No guarantee of outcomes or availability
DP Tutors does not guarantee that a particular tutor will respond, accept a student, remain available, charge the displayed rate, or produce any particular academic result. Search ordering and displayed information may change as the directory develops.
11. Website availability
We aim to keep DP Tutors accurate and available, but the website may occasionally contain errors or be unavailable for maintenance, technical problems, security reasons, or changes to the service. We may modify or discontinue features at any time.
12. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, DP Tutors is not responsible for losses arising from private tutoring arrangements, tutor conduct, student conduct, payments made outside DP Tutors, third-party websites, inaccurate profile information, missed lessons, academic outcomes, or decisions made in reliance on a listing.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
13. Privacy
Personal information is handled as described in the DP Tutors Privacy Policy. Tutor applicants should read that policy before submitting an application.
14. Changes to these Terms
DP Tutors may update these Terms as the service develops, including if accounts, reviews, payments, subscriptions, or booking features are added. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the site after an update means the revised Terms apply from their effective date, subject to any rights you have under applicable law.
15. Governing rules
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of DP Tutors, without limiting any mandatory rights or protections that apply to consumers in their country of residence. Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the parties may use any court or dispute-resolution process available under applicable law.
